  • It will be a quiet week in NZ once Monday’s business confidence has been released.  In contrast, there will be a run of events in Australia and the US that will be closely watched.
  • The RBA will make its rate announcement on Tuesday, and is expected to keep its cash rate steady at 3%. The statement will be given the usual scrutiny for clues on when it is likely to lift the rate.
  • This morning the RBNZ Governor was interviewed on Radio NZ, Dr Bollard noted the high NZD (and the weak USD) is not helpful for NZ’s recovery, but the RBNZ has very limited options to counter it.
